Symposium Success

A near-capacity crowd attended talks by the curators and architects of some of Australia’s leading art institutions, in the auditorium of the Nigel Peck Centre for Learning and Leadership at Melbourne Grammar School designed by John Wardle Architects. Prior to the symposium, guests enjoyed drinks and informal tours of the building. Architect-and-curator duos responsible for the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), Heide Museum of Modern Art, and Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA) gave presentations, with the Samstag Museum designed by John Wardle Architects for the University of South Australia being the only non-Victorian project represented. The speakers were then invited to join a panel discussion led by Dr Chris McAuliffe, Director of the Ian Potter Museum of Art at the University of Melbourne. Chris focused the discussion on the role of the art institution in contemporary society.
