Under Construction 2009
Many of our projects have commenced construction this year, so 2009 will be filled with the noise of drills, saws, hammers and cranes as this work continues apace.

500 Bourke Street Development, Melbourne

The steel framing of our new insertion into the 500 Bourke Street tower foyer and its new north facing retail precinct is well advanced and an outline of the project can now be ascertained.

When complete, this will be a new arrival experience for the building’s tenants framed by a dramatic glass canopy on Bourke Street and a tessellated folded plaster ceiling.

Sydney City Redevelopment for Westfield

Demolition is underway of the old introvert concrete buildings on this site with tower cranes on site ready to start work on the substantial retail podium. Our design creates a new urban identity for this four level shopping centre in the heart of Sydney, refurbishes an existing eleven storey office building that sits below Centrepoint tower and provides a new commercial tower of 30,000sqm alongside. The tower comprises 28 floors of an elliptical floorplate set above an elevated sky lobby. We are working with Westfield Design and Construction on this project.

The Exercise Science and Sports Precinct and Learning Commons for Victoria University

A new university building set into the hillside along the northern edge of campus for Victoria University is underway. This project will be a new portal to the campus, whilst reinforcing its edge and encircling a new learning commons as a centre for teaching, discussion, reflection and debate. Early excavation has started with the site being carved away to set the new building in place.

The Smart State Medical Research Centre, Brisbane

This new research building with a significant laboratory component for the Queensland Institute of Medical Research will provide a new focus for its work investigating tropical diseases in particular and infectious diseases more generally. The building, located at the edge of the Royal Brisbane Hospital, will present a new front door to the Institute and its 700 scientists and staff. Construction is about to commence in the new year and our work on this project is in association with Wilson Architects in Brisbane.

Queenscliff Residence

Concrete has been poured and framing has commenced for a new house on the water’s edge in Queenscliff. This residence investigates the idea of a telescopic view through different layers of indoor and outdoor space towards the heads of Port Phillip Bay.
