A recent weekend excursion has seen the office embark on a tour of completed JWA houses in the Mornington Peninsula area.
The following is a quick snapshot of the day’s activities. The tour commenced at the Vineyard House in Tuerong.
Completed in 2004, the house and surrounding grounds were in immaculate condition. Materials such as the rammed earth walls at entry to the residence and distinctive timber detailing have aged gracefully and responded well to the surrounding landscape.
It was also a pleasure to sight the kitchen larder in operation presenting an array of gourmet delights.
The Balnarring House at Balnarring Beach, completed in 1997 appeared nestled and protected within a dense planting of coastal vegetation.
A compact plan surrounding an external courtyard, this beach weekender appears to have weathered well in the coastal environment.
A brief stop off at the Flinders House to review the exterior characteristics of the house. Completed in 2003, the landscape character of the site was prominent, a grand row of Cyprus Pines with vistas to the ocean and bay beyond.
A fantastic lunch and wine tasting at T’Gallant was followed by a tour led by the clients of the Diamond Bay House in Sorrento.
Completed in 2006, refined detailing involving zinc, plaster and joinery elements were informative to sight first hand. It was evident that the studio spaces were also actively used for the production of artwork.
JWA would like to thank the clients for their generosity in allowing the JWA office access to their residences.
