Westfield Sydney Central project achieves 6 Star Rating

John Wardle Architects are pleased that our competition winning design for reconfiguring  the existing  100 Market Street commercial office tower has achieved a 6 Star -Green Star Design rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.



The design included adding to and subtracting from the existing floorplate to create new atria to bring natural light into the deep plan building. New balconies provide external breakout areas and an entirely new façade improves daylighting and thermal performance.

The key sustainability targets for Westfield Design and Construction and the consultant team for 100 Market Street were a 30% reduction in energy usage and an 80% reduction in water.

The way this has been achieved is by;
 A centralized tri-generation plant
 Improved daylight through a highly transparent façade
 Double glazing used for office areas.
 Improved air quality through improved fresh air rates
 Site wide black water  recycling strategy
 AAA rated water fittings

In the Financial Review, Lisa Carapiet said “The 100 Market Street commercial tower is now Australia's largest 6 Star - Green Star Office Design v2 certified refurbishment.  6 Star - Green Star is the highest rating achievable and represents world leadership in environmental sustainable design.“
