This residential tower unfolds into the city of Sydney whilst being anchored by the historic fabric of the city’s public realm. Wardle won a Design Competition for this new residential tower and retail podium stretching between York and George Street in Sydney.

Set above the historic structures of Carlton House and Spiden House in York Street and with a major retail focus on George Street, the 32-storey residential tower will be a significant new presence in the heart of the city.  A revitalized historic cartway at ground level will stitch the new uses into the civic realm of Sydney.

Flagship retail space on George Street will connect directly with the city’s plans to pedestrianise this precinct, and extends over four levels in height. An articulate sandstone faced structure has a strong streetscape presence on George Street maintaining the integrity of the city’s fabric.

The tower is a simple slender overall form that mirrors the proportions of the historic Georges building on George Street below. The façade of the tower appears to be woven with successive floors shifting in and out slightly to create a shimmering undulation across its surfaces, a weft and warp of light and shadow that is an elegant addition to Sydney’s skyline.
