New Appointments 2020

We’re excited to announce a series of new appointments. Acknowledging the contributions of key team members, they map an exciting future in leadership as we evolve with the growth of our Sydney studio and a number of exciting new projects.

We begin a new phase of leadership by welcoming James Loder and Mathew van Kooy to the role of Partner.

Joining John Wardle, Stefan Mee and Meaghan Dwyer, James and Mathew have in recent years established themselves as key practice leaders and strategists.

While James continues his focus on design, leading new initiatives within a growing practice culture, Mathew drives business development in the commercial sector while also leading our growing portfolio in China.

Minnie Cade and Jasmin Williamson become Principals.

Minnie recently celebrated her 10-year anniversary at JWA, during which time she has led projects around the country including the Jeffrey Smart Building, 900 Ann Street and UTAS Inveresk & Cradle Coast.

Jasmin, a key JWA team member for over 14 years and leader of many of our large adaptive reuse projects including the Monash Caulfield Library and 500 Bourke Street, relocated to Sydney to lead our Surry Hills studio in 2018. She has since built a strong culture of comradery while leading 477 Pitt Street.

Alan Ting, Liza Power and Andrew Lamond become Associate Principals.

Working closely alongside John, Stefan and James Loder, Alan drives new processes and initiatives in the way we design, most recently on the Ian Potter Southbank Centre, Geelong College, Somewhere Other and the Monash Learning and Teaching Building.

Liza plays a key role in practice strategy and communications, working closely with Practice leadership, while also leading business development strategies, tenders and branding.

Andrew plays an important leadership role in the studio, working alongside Jasmin and a growing team on projects including the Ultimo Creative Industries Precinct and Victorian Heart Hospital.

Chloe Lanser, Rhys Hall and Angus McNichol become Associates.

Furthering JWA’s formidable reputation for residential design, forged through internationally award-winning projects such as the Shearers Quarters, Boneo House and Captain Kelly’s Cottage, Chloe takes a leadership position within our residential team.

Rhys has played a pivotal role transitioning the practice into innovative and dynamic new working platforms and technologies, especially vital during COVID-19.

After working across projects including Epworth Hospital, Ian Potter Southbank Centre and Ballarat Gov Hub, Angus joined the Sydney studio in 2019. He is currently working on 477 Pitt Street.
